Our team of life safety experts were able to help ensure the safe return of students and staff to Canyon View Middle School in Cedar City, UT, this week. The team of inspectors from our branch in St. George conducted careful testing of the school’s carbon-monoxide detectors. The school evacuated last week after a CO detector sensed the presence of the harmful gas.
According to a news release from Iron County School District, testing included “an independent check of carbon-monoxide detectors which exist in every classroom, hallway and public area as is required by law.” We’re proud to say Mountain Alarm provided the testing, confirming that all the school’s CO detectors were functioning correctly.
According to the St. George News, the school was also tested and declared safe by the Cedar City Fire Department, Dominion Energy, and Utah Army National Guard’s 85th WMD Civil Support Team. We applaud these entities. We were grateful to be part of the team responsible for protecting all those who work and attend class at the school.
The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of carbon-monoxide detectors and other life safety devices, in addition to regular testing and inspection of those components and systems. Mountain Alarm provides all of those products and services.
